HOW MUCH WHIMSY IS TOO MUCH?
With a production timeline of only 10 days, ESPN approached us to bring some fun and whimsy to the PLL new rules explainer.
With the new season fast approaching, we needed to come with a concept that was first and foremost, extremely clear, while making it enjoyable to watch.
We decided to lean into a macro toyetic world, where all of the rules could be easily explained, and our teamw ould be free to envision an exciting lacrosse match taking place on someones desk.
CUSTOMIZATION
Another important aspect of the PLL explainer was to ensure that each rule could be separated and played on it’s own, out of context from the rest of the video.
To do this, we designed sequences with hard cuts and sweeping camera moves, allowing every segement to act as it’s own starting point.
ON AIR
Launching on ESPN in June of 2025, the PLL explainer has been used throughout the currency PLL season to continue to reinforce the rules of the league.
